Zenu Tribe

"Mother Earth gives us "CañaFlecha" our livelihood.  In every braid we are weaving our history, legends, myths, and believes.  These braids are made over and over, generation to generation, taught by our ancestors to preserve the past, the present and the future of our tribe."  "Pintando Nuestra Cultura Zenu" by the Zenu Tribe.

All of CordoBags' Caña Flecha collections are crafted by the Zenu Tribe. Caña Flecha is a type of palm which the natives grow on their land without fertilizer and in most cases, the Caña Flecha is then dyed by fruits, vegetables, and plants.  Once it is dried the artisans use a technique of braiding the palm that has been passed down from generation to generation.  The braids are then sewn using a foot driven sewing machine to create their masterpiece. CordoBags' works with around 15 different families within the Zenu Tribe. We feel honored to help them grow by teaching them business skills, bringing them clothing, shoes and toys and we feel blessed to have them craft our collections.  Their beautiful and unique technique of weaving the palm makes each piece ONE OF A KIND. We are proud to say the Caña Flecha collections are eco-friendly. This experience has shown us the tribe's devotion to mother earth that gives them the substance to live and the opportunity to preserve their culture.
