At CordoBags, we focus on a great deal more than simply providing our customers with a quality product that they will love. We are also 100% dedicated to attaining our merchandise in an ethical and humane manner. Every product offered by CordoBags is fair trade, but in addition to this we take the time to develop personal and one-on-one relationships with the artisans and tribes people that create these works of art for us. The relationship that we hold with the creators of our product is an aspect of our company that makes us truly unique from many others. The Men and Women in Colombia that hand make these handbags are more to us than a simple supplier, they are friends, and a fresh reminder the connection we all share within this world. The products we sell at CordoBags were not created by abused factory workers, but instead are a product of the culture and tradition of native tribes in Colombia. And with every CordoBags purchase we continue to give back to this sustained culture and environment.

CordoBags proudly sustains the livelihoods of about 35 families within the tribes that we work with. The Men and Women that craft these pieces are taught their art and techniques at a young age, and the knowledge that they posses in regards to the design and implementation of their art cannot be duplicated or manufactured to be mass produced. Every bag and every item that moves through the CordoBags market has its own personal story, just like the artisan that took the time to craft it for you.

CordoBags is a family company that is founded upon mutual admiration and care for the product, the supplier and the three sisters that have worked to make their dreams come true. CordoBags was officially founded in the fall of 2009 on the premise of family. The relationship between the family running the business in the United States and the families crafting the product in Colombia has grown and flourished in the years since the company’s initiation, and the relationships continue to grow. CordoBags offers a one-of-a-kind product that is only available through a one-of-a-kind company.

Paola, Alexandra and Sandra are sisters that share a love for fashion, in addition to a deep and embedded love for their Colombian culture. This strong passion is what led the three to embark on a journey to Colombia in an attempt to start out on their dream. In addition to providing a quality and stylish product that is loaded with Colombian tradition, these three sisters found a way to truly begin making a difference in the world. Paola, Alexandra, and Sandra work to provide a highly fashionable product for women in the United States, but in doing so they are providing work for men and women of the Zenu and Wayuu tribe and also several artisans. During their trips to Colombia, Paola and Alexandria keep their eyes and ears always open to great craftsmanship. When they find it, they try to work with the gifted artisans that provide this talented work. They bring enough products to test it in their market and find out if it would be a good match for CordoBags. That’s how the CordoBags family has grown so rapidly in such a short time. CordoBags has grown from 3 original families in Colombia to about 35 families in less than two years.

While many handbag designers can offer you a convenient product to hold your phone and favorite novel, CordoBags is one of the few that can do so while guaranteeing the care, love and life that has gone into developing each and every purse. Our products are made with sustainability in mind, and are crafted by men and women that pour love, resilience and quality care into their work. By carrying a Cordo Bag, you begin to carry a personal piece of the Colombian culture that otherwise only a passport could help you to attain.

CordoBags began through a connection made in Colombia while one of the founders, Paola, was visiting her mother land. Since that time the company has grown into much more than a source of trade for fashionable goods, but instead can be looked at as an eco-friendly and fair trade initiative that is taking steps to shift trade and commerce into a more humane direction. CordoBags is dedicated to sustainability and fair trade, and the personal relationships embedded within the company’s history makes this initiative one that will continue to thrive.

At Corgo Bags, we draw our inspiration from the experiences of every day women. We ourselves are moms, and as a result understand the need for multifunctional accessories but share the love for fashion that inspires so many women around the world to express themselves through their own unique style. Our designs are created with the purpose of keeping up with our clients.

Our designs are inspired by our love for fashion, and our understanding of the need for practicality while accessorizing! Our Lucy handbags are designed to sit easily on your shoulder, thereby providing you with free hands to juggle the dozen or so obligations so many women are subject to at any moment. Between family, friends, children, work and the attempt at a valuable social life, women everywhere deserve a mental break, and we provide that by making fashion accessible and simple.

Many of our handbags stem from Colombian products, but with our own spin. We also often take tips from many of our clients. We love to hear how much our clients love our products, and take your suggestions for matching accessories and simplifying solutions with great heed. Our goal is to make pieces that you will love. As we see women shopping at the grocery store, walking into work or spending a Saturday at a café or shopping mall we think about the emerging fashion trends that so many of us are embracing, and how these trends fit into each of these scenes. We are deeply inspired by everyday women that make their own style and fashion a daily priority, but we also are inspired by the families of these women, and by our own families for that matter! We offer handbag designs that are great for children, both boys and girls alike. We also offer a collection of large satchels and backpacks that are very popular among men.

As we materialize the visions for our newest products, we begin communicating them to the artisans and tribes that hand-create each of our pieces in Colombia. We offer several different lines of purses, each developed in ode to a particular mood or situation. Our Sandra collection, for example, is vintage and sophisticated, while our Miranda collection is exotic and largely inspired by the traditional jewelry and designs of pre-Colombian body art. At CordoBags our inspiration is everywhere, which allows us to create and provide designer jewelry and handbags for just about anyone!
